Gogoi, a dentist by profession, have exposed the multi-crore scam of the APSC, which had led to the arrest of the then APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, members Samedur Rahman and Basanta Doley and several other officials of the APSC for their involvement in the scam.

The BJP led Assam government had also instituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scam and over 30 candidates, who got selected to plum posts by bribing these officials, were arrested, who are now out on bail.

Gogoi, who had been working as a dentist under the National Health Mission, applied for regular posts of dentists under the Health department in Assam government.

The APSC had advertised for the posts and soon Anshumita came to know that bribe is the only way to get selected by the APSC for the job.

Through an acquaintance she came into contact with Nabakanta Patir, an assistant engineer of the planning department in Dibrugarh, who works as an agent of the APSC chairman Rakesh Paul.

Patir demanded a bribe of Rs. 10 lakh from Anshumita to which she refused and applied for the post.

After clearing the written examination, Patir got in touch with Anshumita saying that he can help her in getting the job but demanded Rs. 20 lakh as bribe.

Anshumita approached the Police, who laid a trap and caught Patir red handed while accepting the bribe.

After Patir, police got some more leads which led to arrest of the APSC members and chairman Rakesh Paul. Paul was arrested on November 4, 2016.

Popular actor Rabi Sharma also joined the saffron party on Friday in the presence of former chief minister of Madhya, Pradesh Sivaraj Singh Chauhan and party’s Assam unit president Ranjit Dass.
