In a war of words between Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) factions, a press statement by Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) led by Chairman Donri Kramsa said that the group camped at fifth Mile at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district of Assam which called a consultation is the not the KPLT group that is in bilateral ceasefire with the government.

“This is the group that has surrendered arms and is in it for money who has admitted to not being able to carry on the struggle. The group led by chairman Donri Kramsa, general secretary Vojaru Hanjang, C-in-C S J Ejang and others in ceasefire will keep on working for the true demands of the organization,” stated the release.

The faction led by Kramsa said that they will keep working for Article 244(A) under which autonomous state comes. ‘Those who have ‘surrendered’ are requested to come with the ceasefire group and work for the demands,’ the statement added.

The KPLT is a violent insurgent group in Karbi Anglong till six years back that claimed to fight for the Karbi tribe in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao for the grant of Autonomous State under Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution.

The different groups, largely decimated by the anti-insurgent operations of the security forces are presently camped in West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong.

Currently there are two main groups which are over ground and both claimed that they are the one ‘true’ KPLT that are still struggling for self-rule.
