The Board of Upendra National Academy (UN Academy) on Sunday distributed grant-in-aids to five schools affiliated with the UN academy of BTAD region of Assam.
The five schools affiliated to the academy were handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh each at the general meeting of Board of UN Academy in Kokrajhar.

The schools receiving the grant-in-aids include Makthaigaon UN Academy (Kokrajhar), Amzonga UN Academy (Goalpara), Shantipur UN Academy (Chirang), Thaigirkari UN Academy (Baksa) and Borpukuri UN Academy (Biswanath).
Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma and All Bodo Students Union( ABSU) general secretary Lawrence Islary and chairman of Upendra Nath Brahma Trust, Dr Subung Basumatary handed over the cheques.
The meeting also discussed on various issues related with the academy and on the forthcoming UN Academy talent search examination for class IX and X and HSLC mock test.

Talking to Northeast Now, Krishna Gopal Basumatary, director of the Academy said the grant-in-aids were given with the objectives of uplifting the UN academy affiliated schools.
He said many schools especially in remote areas have poor infrastructures and needed help. Basumatary said that the UN Academy institution has many challenges and the management is trying to overcome all the needs and problems those step by step.
Basumatary said there are 76 schools affiliated to UN Academy in 13 districts of Assam.
