Assam: ULFA-I linkman nabbed in Tinsukia, explosives seized

During a joint operation, a linkman of United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was nabbed along with explosives in Tinsukia district on Sunday night.

The joint operation was carried out based on a specific input regarding presence of a linkman of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) along with an IED/explosives.

The operation was carried out in the general area of Chengapathar under Tongona police station.

The joint operation was led by Tinsukia police along with 68 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 210 Battalion of the Cobra team from Camp 1 in Tinsukia district and 23 Punjab Regiment.

“During the search of the suspected house resulted in the apprehension of one ULFA (I) linkman at around 7:45 pm on Sunday,” informed official sources.

The nabbed ULFA(I) linkman has been identified as 36-year-old Ridip Neog alias Rounto, son of Bhangeshwar Neog, a resident of Chengapathar village under Tongona police station in Tinsukia district.

The joint was also able to recover 2 sticks of PEK weighing 250 gm; 2 electronic detonators with wire (inserted inside PEK sticks); one 12 V-5A battery and 4 mobile handsets.
