Assam: Udalguri fakes own abduction to extort money from father

In an incident directly out from a Bollywood thriller, a 14-year-old minor boy, a resident of Chamuagaon under Orang police station in Udalguri district of Assam staged his own abduction to demand a ransom from his father.

The 14-year-old Sansuma (name changed) with the help of his two friends went missing on November 26 last and made ransom call to extort Rs 30,000 from his father.

After investigating, the Orang police finding discrepancies in the kidnapping laid a trap and apprehended the boy and his accomplices.

According to reports, after the father received ransom call for the safe release of his son, he immediately lodged an FIR with Orang police and arranged the money to be placed under a bush at gate no 1 of Orang tea estate in Udalguri where police had laid a trap and apprehended the ‘kidnapped’ youth and two of his friends on Tuesday.

The boys revealed that the entire incident was cooked up by Sansuma. All the boys are minor school students and are aged about 14 years they also revealed that Sansuma had promised them of sponsoring a trip to Madhya Pradesh if they helped him in staging the incident.

The Orang police vide Orang police station case no. 105/18 under 364 IPC produced the trio before court on Tuesday.
