To provide more comfort and safety to the passengers during train journey, the NF Railway has decided to convert the conventional ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coaches to LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches in two weekly trains with effect from Thursday.

The two weekly trains to be provided with the new LCB rakes include 15942/15941 Dibrugarh- Jhajha Weekly Express and 15944/15943 Barak-Brahmaputra Weekly Express.

While the LCB rakes of 15942/15941 Dibrugarh- Jhajha Weekly Express had become operational from February 20, the LCB coaches of the 15944/15943 Barak-Brahmaputra Weekly Express will come into effect from February 24.

The new LCB rakes will comprise of one AC-2 tier coach, three AC-3 tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, two brake/ luggage cum generator cars and six second class coaches.

It may be mentioned that a total of 34 trains run with LHB coaches over N F Railway which include Rajdhani/ Shatabdi type trains and trains owned by other Railways.

LHB coaches have more benefits compared to old conventional type coaches in terms of safety as well as passengers’ comfort. The LHB coaches are maintenance –friendly and aesthetic in appearance, Sharma said.

The LHB coaches are made of stainless steel and interiors are made of aluminum which is lighter than older one and ensures better riding experience to the passengers. The coaches are also considered to be ‘anti-telescopic’, which means they do not get turned over or flip in case of a collision resulting lesser casualty.
