Guwahati: A police team in Karimganj, Assam busted a possible cough syrup smuggling bit on arrested two suspected smugglers.
A police source said that acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a truck at a checkpoint along the Assam-Tripura border in Churaibari.

A comprehensive search of the vehicle uncovered roughly 193 cartons containing around 9,700 bottles of cough syrup, identified as the codeine phosphate-based syrups Eskuf and Phensedyl.
Two men, Sadananda Ray and Sanjay Ray, both residents of West Bengal, were detained in connection with the seizure.
