Tripura Assam Manipur: Smuggling ring busted, drugs worth Rs 9.59 crore seized

Guwahati: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with about one and a half kilograms of suspected heroin by the police in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday.

As per officials, the drug is estimated to be worth nearly Rs 12 crore in the international market.

The accused were arrested based on specific inputs present with the Special Task Force of the Assam Police.

The accused were identified as Jamal Ali and Salim Uddin. Both are residents of Goroimari in Kamrup.

The police said that they had made a secret compartment in their car, a Maruti Suzuki WagonR bearing registration AS01FN7633 to conceal the drugs.

However, the police had inputs about these and hence, the duo was busted.

Further investigations are being carried out by the police.
