In two separate incidents on Sunday two suspected murders have taken place in Goalpara district under the Dhupdhara Police Station of the district in Lower Assam.
The two persons, who were murdered, have been identified as Sashimohan Biswas and Joynal Abedin.

The villages where the incidents have taken places are Laoduba and Dhanbari.
The distance of both the villages are 11 km from the NH-37 and 3 km from each other.
In the first incident, one Sashimohan Biswas, aged about 70 years, lost his life when he came into physical tussle with one Dipali Biswas, aged about 38 years, who were relatives.

However, the families of Sashimohan and Dipali were not in good terms. “A tussle also erupted during the recent Biswakarma Puja,” said sources.
Sources stated that on Sunday, Sashimohan when came in front of Dipali while passing in front of the latter’s house started arguments.
“When the septuagenarian, Sashimohan, who was suffering from high blood pressure and blood sugar dragged Dipali by hair, she pushed him to the ground forcefully. The old man could not stand again and lost his life,” informed a source.
On the other hand, another source claimed, “Sashimohan was severely beaten up with sticks by Dipali’s family members in which the old man died.”
The police have framed murder charge against Dipali. “We registered a case against the accused for murdering the man and sent the woman to jail,” informed Officer-in-Charge, Dhupdhara Police Station, Nilkamal Sutradhar.
In the second incident, one Joynal Abedin, aged about 26, of Dolagaon Simlabari village, was murdered and dumped at Dhanbari village. Joynal was a a mentally-retarded youth, who returned home recently after missing for several days.
His body was found on Sunday morning near a bush at Dhanbari with deep stains in his throat. “The body has been recovered from near a Som plantation with stains at neck which look at first impression as torture mark,” said a police officer. The deceased’s family has lodged complaint at the Dhupdhara PS.
Meanwhile, both the bodies have been sent to the Bhalukdubi civil hospital in Goalpara by police for conducting post-mortem. “Everything regarding both the cases will be clear once we get the post-mortem report,” said a high-level police officer.
