Two more COVID19 positive patients have died in Jorhat in the last 24 hours.

With the demise of two more COVID19 infected patients in Jorhat district, the death toll of positive patients in the district increased to 24 on Saturday.

Jorhat deputy commissioner Roshni A Korati informed on Saturday evening that Kanak Kachari (53 years) of Karolibari at Titabar in Jorhat district and Juri Sutradhar (25 years) of Borhulla in the district, unfortunately, expired due to COVID19.

Meanwhile, 164 more positive cases without travel history were detected in the Jorhat district on Saturday.

With the detection of the new positive cases, the total number of positive cases in the district increased to 7,898 on Saturday.

Korati said among the 164 positive cases detected on Saturday, 32 are from Jorhat town.

The total number of active cases in the district on Saturday stands at 1,687, the deputy commissioner stated.

Assam has so far recorded a total of 1,52,858 positive cases, including 28,631 active cases.

The disease has claimed a total of 540 positive patients across the state while 1,23,684 patients have recovered from the disease.
