A team of forest personnel of the forest range, led by forest officer Shibani Pegu, carried out an operation in the Krishnai reserve forest since morning on Thursday.
During the operation period, the forest department team was able to bust two illegal sawmills in the Dahela Maj Jakhili area.
The forest also seized a number of timber logs piled in the sawmills illegally.

After taking charge as the forest officer of the Krishnai range in Goalpara district, Shibani Pegu has been carrying out a series of operations against illegal timber traders and timber smugglers.
During the operations, a large number of illegal timber logs have been seized by the forest department in Krishnai.
Talking to Northeast Now regarding the operation against illegal timber traders, forest officer Pegu said, “The forest department in Krishnai forest range will continue operations against illegal timber traders.”
Pegu sought cooperation from the people of the area in carrying out such operations.
