Wetland Birds Assam
Two persons were arrested in North Lakhimpur for allegedly killing and transporting 24 exotic wetland birds.

North Lakhimpur:ย Police in North Lakhimpur, Assam have arrested two individuals in connection with the killing and illegal transport of several exotic wetland birds.

The arrests were made on Tuesday in Jorhatiya Gaon under the Hatilung area, within the jurisdiction of the Khelmati Town Police Outpost. The duo was initially detained by locals after a bag in their possession was found to contain 24 dead birds.

The seized birds included 13 little cormorants, 10 cattle egrets and one water egret. They are suspected to have been hunted from the nearby Satajan Wetland along the right bank of the Ranganadi river in Pahumora, North Lakhimpur.

The accused have been identified as Samura Lang (15) and Suraj Orang (19), both residents of Bogoleejan in North Lakhimpur.
