Police have nabbed two Bangladeshi nationals from western Assam’s Dhubri for entering India illegally.
A team of police on Thursday raided the house of one Siddique Sheikh at Ironjongla area under Dhubri police stations and arrested the two Bangladeshi nationals.
They have been identified as Maqbool Sheikh (48) and his son Basir Sheikh (18) hailing from Kathalbari village in Kurigram district of Bangladesh, said a police official.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that they worked as labourers in brick kilns in different parts of India and Nepal, he said.
Maqbool has reportedly been staying in India and Nepal for the last 20 to 30 years.
He married a woman at Dhubri and got arrested when he came to visit his in-laws.
Police also arrested two other Indians, Siddique Sheikh and Asadul of Dhubri for suspicion of providing shelter to the arrested Bangladeshi nationals.
