Twelve Assam Police personnel, engaged in the fight against COVID-19, have tested positive for the infection in Guwahati so far while around 180 policemen were quarantined in the city earlier.
“12 policemen in Guwahati have tested for COVID-19. Some of them have even recovered from the infection,” said Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad

“Earlier, around 180 police personnel were quarantined, who later tested negative for COVID-19,” he added.
He further informed that 12 policemen from the Hatigaon police station in Guwahati were recently put under quarantine.
They were forced to be put under quarantine a thief in custody had tested positive for COVID-19.

It may be mentioned here that recently four traffic police personnel, two from police battalions within Guwahati, a security officer of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and two policemen posted at police stations in the city were found COVID-19 positive.
Moreover, 11 policemen from Haibargaon police station in Nagaon were placed in quarantine after they rescued a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted.
The girl was later found COVID-19 positive.
