Guwahati: Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) apprehended alleged two high-ranking leaders of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in a major counter-terrorism operation.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF team tracked down the accused, Haris Farooqi and Anurag Singh, along the Dhubri border.

Farooqi, identified as the head of ISIS in India, and Singh, his converted associate, were allegedly planning to enter India for sabotage activities.

Both are allegedly involved in recruitment, terror funding, and plotting attacks using IEDs.

The apprehended individuals face charges from NIA, Delhi, ATS, Lucknow, and other agencies.

It has been reported that the STF will hand them over to NIA for further legal action.
