Dibrugarh: Riding on an outstanding all-round performance by captain Golu Kumar, Tinsukia Railway Academy emerged champions by defeating Doomdooma Cricket Academy by 31 runs in the Bharat Dutta Memorial Under-14 Cricket Tournament, held at Jalan Outdoor Stadium in Assam’s Dibrugarh on Monday.

After winning the toss, Tinsukia Railway Academy opted to bat first and were all out for a modest 113 runs in 29.4 overs. Captain Golu Kumar remained unbeaten on 44 runs. For Doomdooma, Priyatam Handique and Bedanta Barun Gogoi claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Doomdooma failed to withstand the disciplined bowling attack led by Golu Kumar and were bowled out for 82 runs in 21.3 overs. Priyatam Handique scored 27 runs, while Pratik Sarkar contributed 15 runs. For Tinsukia, captain Golu Kumar took five wickets, while Nikunj Nabya Gogoi picked up three wickets.

Golu Kumar was adjudged Man of the Match, while Doomdooma captain Bedanta Barun Gogoi received the Man of the Series award as well as the Best Batsman award. Shubho Pal of Doomdooma was named Best Bowler.

Special awards were also presented to Bedanta Barun Gogoi and Mayank Bhattacharya for scoring centuries in the tournament.
