Congress candidate for Managaldai Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, Bhubaneswar Kalita on Sunday viewed that the Lok Sabha election 2019 is a pivotal one which will decide the fate of the nation and the State.

Addressing party workers at the Congress Bhawan at Tangla of Udalguri district, Kalita said that it is high time that people bid adieu to the saffron party which has come to power with fake promises.

Rajya Sabha MP and former APCC president Kalita who was accorded a hero’s welcome in the town by the enthusiastic party workers and public was feted by the Tangla town and Bhergaon block Congress committee members at a ceremonial event anchored by president of Udalguri chapter of theparty, Bristi Basumatari.

Addressing the party workers and public, the veteran politician observed that Narendra Modi is an advertisement Prime Minister. The plethora of development schemes and promises of the saffron party are just limited to bill boards and hoardings.

The promise that foreign stacked black money will be brought back, every citizen will get 15 lakhs in their accounts were only part of their political gimmick to woe the voters. He further lamented and questioned when the Modi government can waive the hundreds of crores of corporate loans, why aren’t they doing the same for the farmers?

He also spoke on the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and reiteirated his role in spearheading the Rajya Sabha campaign against the bill. Kalita also played the anti-incumbancy card to full strentgh and cited the poor performance of the incumbent BJP MP, Ramen Deka in his two terms and another term of BJP’s Narayan Chandra Borkataky.

He also exhorted the party workers to carry out door-to-door campaigns and apprise the people on the detrimental policies of the saffron party and its fake promises to the voters.

The event well attended by the party workers, publuc was also graced by Rajya SabhaMP, Santiuse Kujur; Congress leaders,Durga Das Boro; Dipankar Sahariah, former Paneri MLA, Mridula Sahariah among others.
