Assam: Three youths drown in river Subansiri near North Lakhimpur

Three youths drowned in river Subansiri near North Lakhimpur town in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

The youths were of the age group of 20 years.

The incident of drowning took place on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Sajadul Haq, Mamud Hassan and Adnan Zaman Hazarika.

All the deceased were from the Moidamiya village in North Lakhimpur.

They were part of a seven-member group, who went out to swim at the river in the Hatiyemora Ghat of the river Subansiri in Ghagar.

But the fast current of the river swept the three of the group away.

Later, a rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from North Lakhimpur recovered their bodies in the evening.

The tragedy has cast a pall of gloom in North Lakhimpur.
