During the operation, three persons suspected to be KLO cadres were apprehended with arms and ammunition. 

Assam police and Army in a joint operation nabbed three suspected Kamtapur Liberation Organisations (KLO) cadres from Hazaripara area under Bilasipara police station in western Assam’s Dhubri district on Monday evening.

Acting on a tip-off received from 25 Rajput Regiment of Army  about the movement of a suspected KLO cadres, Dhubri police launched a joint operation at Hazaripara area.

During the operation, three persons suspected to be KLO cadres were apprehended with arms and ammunition.

The apprehended KLO cadres have been identified as Uttam Ray, 26, Sudip Koch, 30, and Uma Koch, 27.

All are the residents of Damodorpur village under Chapar police station in Dhubri district, police said.

“All three were apprehended while they were coming from Fakiragram side (on the road of Fakiragram to Bilasipara) on motorcycle without any number plate,” said a police official.

On searching of them, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, one 4.5 mm pistol with magazine, four rounds of live bullets  of 9 mm pistol and four rounds of live bullets of 7.65 mm pistol were recovered from the possession of the suspected KLO cadres.

“A case under the relevant sections of IPC is being registered against the apprehended persons and further investigation is on,” Dhubri SP Ananda Mishra said.
