Guwahati: The three-day Zubeen Divas commenced at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur on Thursday, September 17, with preparations made to welcome thousands of admirers paying tribute to music icon Zubeen Garg on the first anniversary of his death.

The memorial site, where Gargโ€™s final resting place is located, has been adorned with flowers and fresh gamosas ahead of the commemorative programmes.

The Assam government has extended support for the arrangements at the venue to facilitate the participation of the large number of admirers and devotees expected to attend the three-day observance.

The first day began with a morning prayer, followed by a naam-prasanga scheduled for the afternoon.

A range of cultural programmes has been lined up for the second day, while the final day will feature Bhagawat recitation and Bhaona.

As a large turnout is expected at Zubeen Kshetra during the observance, organisers have urged visitors to maintain discipline and participate in the programmes peacefully.
