A group of unidentified persons robbed more than Rs 40 lakh from two State Bank of India ATMs in Bongaigaon’s Barpara in the wee hours of Monday.
Police officials informed that as per information present with them, the theft was executed by five-six men.

The police added that the men had disconnected the CCTV cables before the job and a monitoring team in Hyderabad had informed the police about the ATM tampering.
The police claimed that before the police could reach the spot, the thieves had already left the place with the money.

As per police sources, the ATMs had more than Rs 40 lakh in them which were taken out of the machines using gas-cutters.
According to the sources, the patrolling police parties could not track the thieves as they had closed the shutters of the ATM kiosk premise while executing the robbery.
