A 19 -year-old girl died in an unfortunate road accident at Gitibari area of Paneri in Assam’s Udalguri district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Lalita Munda, who was a resident of Supai Bastio village in Paneri.

According to police sources, the victim worked in a private tea estate as a worker.

The accident occurred when the victim fell off a three-wheeler in which she was travelling and sustained serious injuries.

By-standers on the spot rushed her to the community health centres at Tangla, where doctors declared her brought dead.

“My daughter succumbed to her injuries that she sustained while falling off the vehicle she had been travelling in,” said Galu Munda, father of the victim.

Meanwhile, another fellow worker of the victim also accidentally fell off the vehicle he was travelling in.

He sustained injuries on the head and was taken to the Mangaldai Civil Hospital for better treatment.

Meanwhile Paneri Police have started investigation into the case.

The conscious citizens  have raised concerns over rising cases of accidents involving tea garden workers travelling in overcrowded vehicles.
