Assam: Swarnim Vijay Maashal arrives at Narengi Military Station in Guwahati

As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (victory flame), on Monday, arrived at the Narengi Military Station in Guwahati, Assam from Shillong in Meghalaya. 

The Mashaal was received by Narengi Military Station commander SI D’Cunha alongside serving personnel, veterans and NCC Cadets.

The Swarnim Vijay Varsh is being celebrated to commemorate 50 years of India’s magnificent victory over Pakistan in 1971. 

A grand reception involving general public along with NCC Cadets on mounted horses and Military Police outriders escorted the Mashaal to the tunes of Brass Band of BSF playing Martial tunes.

The Mashaal commenced its journey from National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16 last year. 

To honour the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and to rejoice in the Liberation of Bangladesh, a grand function will be held at the Army Public School in Narengi on Tuesday. 

The Mashaal will remain at the Narengi Military Station for two days after which it will be taken to nearby local units.  

A series of events like drawing and painting competitions, quiz, screening of war movies etc are being planned at all the locations to commemorate the Swarnim Vijay Varsh.
