Guwahati: A suspected robber was injured in alleged police action on Sunday night as he “attempted” to evade arrest in Kokrajhar, Assam.
According to reports, the accused identified as Amir Hussain was accused of robbery was shot while attempting to flee.

Police sources said that four suspects were arrested by Kokrajhar police in Assam on Sunday night, following a robbery of over Rs 34 lakh outside Axis Bank on June 25.

The operation led police to Salakati Bedlangmary Tea Estate where one suspect, Amir Hussain, attempted to flee and sustained injuries during his apprehension.
Police said that this was not an encounter but a planned operation. Investigations revealed the involvement of possible insider information and that the robbery was originally planned for June 21.
Three suspects are still at large and efforts to recover the remaining stolen money are ongoing.
