Professional Far East (PFE) Sports Management is going to organize All Assam Sub-junior Badminton Scholarship Championship to encourage budding talents. The championship will be organized with the support of Dibrugarh District Sports Association at DDSA indoor stadium from January 5-7.
Speaking to the media on Monday Pritam Das, owner of PFE sports management said their main objective is to scout the potential of the players and select them for coaching camps outside Assam.
“We are the first sports management firm in Northeast which is organizing such event in Assam. We have selected Dibrugarh because the players have a lot of potential in Badminton. From January, we are organizing the All Assam Sub-junior Badminton Scholarship Championship among U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 boys and girls to tap their potential,” Das said.
He also said that the sports should be played with professional standards but in India lack of infrastructure makes it impossible. “In India most of us play sports for livelihood but nobody plays for the nation because they do not take the sports as a career seriously. So, we will work to tap the hidden potential of the players. After selecting the players in the championship we will call them to Guwahati for signing of the contract,” Das added. He said that they will be selected for advanced coaching outside Assam.
Amlan Bhattacharya, Badminton coach of DDSA and technical adviser of PFE sports Management said, “For the first time in Assam the Badminton championship is being organized where budding players can showcase their talent. We are expecting 300 players in the championship. So far 250 players in all categories have enrolled,” Bhattacharya said.
Biswajit Bora, Squash Secretary of DDSA and Manash Chetia, Badminton Secretary of DDSA were present at the press conference.
