Guwahati: Student’s Day was observed with solemnity and widespread participation across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on March 31, commemorating the 70th birth anniversary of Bodo leader Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
The central programme took place at his burial site in Thulungapuri, where students, community leaders, and admirers assembled to offer floral tributes and honour his legacy. The event was jointly organised by the Upendra Nath Brahma Trust and the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU).
Speakers at the gathering reflected on Brahma’s enduring vision of education, social reform, unity, and peaceful progress. They called upon students to uphold his ideals and contribute to the advancement of society.
Recognising his lifelong dedication to student welfare and the upliftment of the Bodo community, the Government of Assam has officially designated his birth anniversary as Student’s Day since 2023.
The occasion was also marked at the BTC Secretariat under the initiative of the Bodoland Territorial Council administration, where officials and staff paid tribute and reiterated their commitment to strengthening the education sector in the region.
Among those present were ABSU president Khwrwmdao Wary, Upendra Nath Brahma Trust chairman Dwibrang Mushahary, and UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary, along with several other dignitaries.
