Assam: Student dies in Sivasagar mishap

A college student was killed in a road accident in eastern Assam’s Sivasagar on Friday.

The accident took place near the Lakshminath Bezbaruah park in the town at around 8:30 am on Friday.

The deceased identified as Chandra Shekhar Dutta of Dimow who was coming in a scooty collided head-on with a bicycle near the Dikhow bridge.

The student from Sivasagar College who sustained grievous injuries was rushed to nearby Aditya Nursing Home.

However, the nursing home authorities allegedly refused to attend to him.

Later, he was taken to Sivasagar Civil Hospital.

Though doctors tried their best to save his life who was bleeding profusely from his mouth breathed his last in the hospital.

He was student of third semester of Sivasagar College.

Meanwhile, allegations of high-handedness are rife against the private nursing homes in the town.

At a time when the Sivasagar district administration is mulling to re-introduce emergency services during the night at all private nursing, Friday’s incident has infuriated the locals.

Local residents have also demanded that the district administration take strict action against Aditya Nursing Home for its alleged negligence.
