A state-of-the-art Anundoram Borooah Academy of Administration will come up at Umrongsho in Dima Hasao district soon.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of the institute on Monday.

This academy will be set up with a project cost of Rs. 450 crore on a sprawling 1000 bigha land in picturesque Umrongsho.

It will be modelled after Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie and would be able to accommodate 300 trainees at a time.

Speaking at the programme Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Our Government is working to ensure equal development of all 33 districts of the state where every individual gets an equal opportunity to grow. The proposed Administrative Academy would surely boost growth narrative in the district and turn the district into a tourism hotspot.”

“This Academy would be built as a world class institution and it would produce high quality administrators of not only Assam and India but of the entire South East Asia”, he added.

Sonowal also urged the youths of the district to take best advantage of the academy and strive hard to acquire knowledge which would help them to grow as good citizens of the country.

Further underlining the importance of peaceful environment for growth and prosperity, the Chief Minister called upon all communities of Dima Hasao as well as the people of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong to maintain peace and not to allow any subversive force to disturb their harmonious co-existence. He also urged the people to make best use of the opportunities being provided by the government for development of the districts.

CEM of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debolal Garlosa, Haflong MLA Bir Bhadra Hagjer, Executive Member of DHAC Samuel Changsan, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Lohiya, Commissioner & Secretary of Personnel Department KK Dwivedi, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao district Amitabh Rajkhowa, Principal Secretary of DHAC TT Daulaguphu and several other dignitaries were present in the programme.
