The Udalguri district committee of Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) members along with a number of HSLC and HS examinees staged a human chain protest in Tangla town of Udalguri district.

They demanded a rollback of the Assam governmentโ€™s evaluation formula for HSLC and HS examinations this year under SEBA and AHSEC in Assam.

Addressing a gathering, the convenor of SMSS Udalguri chapter, Indraneel Deka said, โ€œThe government has devised an evaluation procedure for the HSLC and HS examinees this year.โ€

โ€œIt is quite astonishing that the marksheets will only be valid for getting admissions in higher institutions and not securing jobs,โ€ Deka said.

โ€œSuch strange decision has put the studentโ€™s fraternity in a great dilemma,โ€ Deka added.

Zubeen Nath, another HS examinee said, โ€œThe government has taken an arbitrary decision which has pushed the studentsโ€™ future to the edge of uncertainty.โ€

Another student, Manab Jyoti Talukdar echoing the sentiments of the students said, โ€œThe government must roll back the decision and take the stakeholders of the society into confidence before minting out any fresh decisions.โ€
