Six rebels belonging to Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) were killed in an encounter with security forces in central Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, police said on Sunday.
Police said based on specific information, a joint operation was launched by police and Army at Dhansiri area in Karbi Anglong district where the militants exchanged fire with the security forces.
“After an exchange of fire between terrorists DNLA and a joint team of Assam Police and Indian Army, six DNLA militants have been killed,” said a police official.
Assam police Special DGP (L&O) GP Singh in a tweet said in an early morning operation by Assam police, six DNLA terrorists were neutralized in Dhansiri area of Karbi Anglong district.

Police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the spot.
Earlier in April last year, two cadres of DNLA were killed in an encounter with security forces in the same area in the Karbi Anglong district.
