A team of 45 students and 45 Gaon Burhas (village heads) from Sivasagar district set out on a three-day science education tour under Mukhya Mantrir Bigyan Darshan- 2018 scheme, Assam, on Thursday.
The journey was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district, Pallav Gopal Jha at a brief function held at Sivasagar Circuit House.
Setting the trip on the roll, Deputy Commissioner Jha wished the team members an enlightening and happy excursion.
The education trip will take the team to Jorhat Planetarium, North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat (formerly Regional Research Laboratory), Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Tocklai Tea Research Station in Jorhat during January 10 to 12.
The excursion has been organised jointly by Jorhat Science Centre and Planetarium and Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) under Department of Science and Technology, Government of Assam.
Nodal officer and Assistant Commissioner of the district, Gouri Priya Deuri is accompanying the team travelling in three luxury coaches of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC).
The students for the tour have been selected from 15 different schools in the district from Class VII to IX. Maximum three students have been selected from one school.
