As many as 15 model polling stations have been set up in the three LAC constituencies in Sivasagar election district of 12 Jorhat HPC for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections apart from six all-women polling stations.

There will five model polling stations each under 103 Amguri LAC, 107 Thowra LAC and 108 Sibsagar LAC of the district.

The five model polling stations under 103 Amguri LAC are 72 Bhuyanhat L P School, Auiniati Hemchandra Dev H S School (East), Amguri Girls’ High School, Karuna Kanta Gogoi Memorial H S School and Namti Girls’ High School.

Under the 107 Thowra LAC, the five model polling stations have been set up at Demow M V School (North), Demow M V School (South), Demow Town High School, Demow H S School (South) and Demow H S School (East).

Under the 108 Sibsagar LAC, the five model polling stations are BirLachit College, Bezbaruah H S School (North), two PS at Borpatradol High School and Cherekapar High School.

Some of the assured minimum facilities available in the model polling stations as prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) include:

Parking for Persons with Disability (PwD) coming on wheelchairs or other vehicles (to be visible from the road)

After entrance arrow signs marks indicating the queue

Arrow mark indicating the polling personnel

Signage for Male/Female toilets

Signage for toilets for PwD voters

Signage indicating drinking water

Every model polling stations are equipped with a help desk, BLO with booth slips, volunteers (male and female) to guide and assist the voters (especially the PwDs) entering the polling station.

In case there are stairs to reach polling station, ramp should also be provided there.

Separate toilets for male and female voters available toilets and whether the toilets are PwD-friendly.

There should be provision for running water in the toilets and if running water is not available, adequate water should be kept in storage.

Model polliing stations are also equipped with drinking water facility.

Whether separate entrance and exit is provided in the polling station

Separate entrance and exits should also be made available, and if that is no possible, the entry and exit should be demarcated through rope separators or partitions.

Electricity supply should be ensured in all model polling stations with minimum of two plug points, one fan and two to three tube lights.

There has to be adequate furniture available with height of the table on which the ballot unit is kept should be disabled-friendly and there should be sufficient moving space around the table for wheel chairs.

There are six all-women polling stations in the three Legislative Assembly constituencies of Sivasagar election district.

In the 103 Amguri LAC, the two all-women polling stations are Auniati Hemchandra Dev H S School (East) and Auniati Hemchandra Dev H S School (West).

In the 107 Thowra LAC, the two all-women polling stations have been set up at Demow H S School (South) and Demow H S School (East).

Under the 108 Sibsagar LAC, the two all-women polling stations are ONGC L P School (North) and ONGC L P School (South).
