Biman Baruah and singer Kallol Borthakur along with some other entertainment industry professionals on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Assamese singer-music director Biman Baruah and singer Kallol Borthakur along with some other entertainment industry professionals on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Guwahati.

Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass welcomed them in a function held at the party state headquarters at city’s Hengerabari area.

Besides Biman Baruah and Kallol Borthakur, seven other entertainment industry professionals–Jayanta Kumar Sarma, Banjit Sarma, Kaushik Sarma, Bhabajyoti Das, Nikunja Medhi, Jagdish Sarma and Bulumoni Goswami– joined the BJP at the function.

BJP leaders Jayanta Malla Baruah, Jatin Bora and Vidya Sagar were also present in the event.

Earlier, several other singers and actors of Assam also joined the saffron party.

Among those who joined the BJP were flautist Deepak Sarma, singer Simanta Shekhar, actor Pranjana Dutta and fashion designer Rittika Hazarika.

Actor Jatin Bora, who resigned from the BJP in December last year during anti-CAA protest, also came back to the party fold in the last month.
