Assam singer in Northeast Idol finale

Hojai’s budding singer Surajit Biswas has brought laurels to the district as well as for Assam by making a place in the grand finale of singing reality show ‘North East Idol’.

The prgramme is going in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar and being telecasted by DD Arun Prabha.

Surajit and four more contestants are competing for the title.

The other competitors are Meenam Goi and Jikke Bhai from Arunachal Pradesh, Nikita Debnath from Tripura and Pritam Rai from Sikkim.

The grand finale will be held on November 16.

Surajit hails from a middle class family in Hojai.

He is the son of Late Pradip Biswas and Shukla Biswas.

His father passed away three months ago.

He has completed his graduation in commerce in 2016.

Talking to the Northeast Now on Sunday evening, he said, “Till now the love and affection people have given me is praiseworthy, I am thankful to each and everyone for supporting me in reaching the finale.”

“My interest in singing grew since childhood days due to my father’s fond love for music, he always encouraged me to participate in every singing competition and dreamt of me becoming a successful singer,” Das told.

With a Visharad degree in Indian Classical Music, Surajit possesses every particular trait and ability to chase and fulfill his father’s and his dreams.

With this feat being achieved now, he is sure to bring more fame and name for his State and district.

He has requested everyone to shower the same love they have given him till date by casting their valuable votes in favour of him by typing in mobile NEIDOL<space>19 and send it to 56263.

The voting lines are open till November 16 and only through mobile having main balance the voting can be done.

“This is first season of North East Idol in 2019 (NEL) organized by Amzi Arts Private Limited (AAPL), through which our talented singers of the north-eastern states can showcase their hidden talents to the world,” Anup Das, Assam joint secretary North East Idol told Northeast Now over phone.

He informed the objective of the show is to build communal harmony through music among the north-eastern states with inter-cultural integration and promotion of local languages and dialects.

“In August the auditions began in eight of the states and from September onwards the programme is running and finally on November 16 it will end with grand finale, where the winner will get a cheque of Rs two lakhs along with a car and the runner up will get a cheque of Rs one lakh,” Das informed.
