Guwahati: Tension prevailed at Rodali Path at Bohotia Gaon in Upper Assam’s Jorhat, on Friday after local residents allegedly busted a suspected sex racket in the area.

According to reports, residents caught several young men and women at the spot and confronted them before informing the police.

Police reached the area following the information and detained three young women and one young man for questioning.

Several other men and women allegedly fled the spot before the police arrived.

Police are investigating the incident to determine whether an organised sex racket was operating in the area.

The investigation is ongoing, with police expected to question the detained individuals and other witnesses. Officials are also examining the evidence collected from the site before deciding on further legal action.

Earlier in June, Jorhat Police conducted a late-night raid at a luxury hotel near National Highway 37 and detained 15 people, including seven women and eight men.

Police sources said the operation at Orchid Hotel was carried out following information that the premises were allegedly being used for activities linked to a suspected prostitution network.
