A rare species of crane (egret) was rescued at Bokakhat in upper Assam’s Golaghat district on Wednesday.
The bird, identified as Glossy Ibis, had an injury on its right wing.

Srimanta Bora, a resident of Mohmaiki village spotted the bird and informed forest officials.
Uttam Saikia, Honorary wildlife warden of KNP and Kaziranga research officer Dr Rabindra Sarma rescued the bird and handed it to the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre at Panbari.
The bird is being treated at the centre by Dr Samsul Ali.

The migratory bird is locally known as Akuha Bog, and comes to Kaziranga during the winter
