Assam: Sensation over ‘accidental’ death in Udalguri tea estate

Sensation grips Borengajuli Tea Estate under Dimakuchi Police Station in Udalguri district following the recovery of a body at 18 No line of the tea garden on Wednesday. As per reports, the person has been identified as 55-year-old Sahid Ali who was working as a domestic help in the doctor’s bungalow of the McLeod Russell-owned tea garden.

The tea garden labourers saw the body lying in the bushes and raised a hue and cry. The family members of the victim – after looking at the injury marks on Sahid’s forehead and hands – have alleged that he was hit by an official vehicle belonging to the garden and later his body was thrown in the bushes.

Meanwhile, Dimakuchi Police have sent the body for post-mortem. The tea garden labourers and the bereaved family members have demanded proper inquiry into the matter.
