On July 26, around 12 armed miscreants stormed a labor camp near Nianglo Pungo village, assaulting workers and abducting two individuals: Abdul Kadir and Iqbal Laskar.

The abduction has significantly impacted the construction project, with many workers fleeing the site due to fear.

Senior Project Manager Sushil Kumar Srivastava stated that the incident has slowed down the project, with new workers hesitant to join due to safety concerns.

The Nianglo Lungria Zeme Students’ Union (NLZSU) has condemned the act, urging law enforcement agencies to expedite their investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The withdrawal of Assam Rifles from the area has reportedly led to an increase in miscreant activities, creating a sense of threat in the tri-junction of Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur borders.

Additionally, extremist groups from outside the region have been collecting alleged “house tax” from villages in the border area, exacerbating the situation.
