An employee of the Assam Secretariat was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption cell while she was allegedly accepting a bribe.
The Assam Police said that the female government official who was working with the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward classes as a senior assistant was caught red-handed while accepting bribes inside the Assam Secretariat campus.

The government employee identified as Seema Devi was caught red-handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 4,000.

Along with the bribe money, the V&AC also recovered Rs 99,000 in cash from her bag.

She has been taken to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption head office for further interrogation and investigation.

As per sources, she used to frequently demand bribes from people who would come to her for any sort of work.
