Guwahati: Some districts across Assam including Kamrup Metro and Dibrugarh districts have advanced school timings due to the rising temperatures.
In Kamrup Metro district, the District Elementary Education Officer on Friday issued a circular mandating schools to implement measures to mitigate the impact of the heatwave.

Starting from September 21, 2024, schools will be required to adjust their daily schedules, beginning classes at 7:30 AM and concluding before or at 12:30 PM.
This adjustment aims to reduce students’ exposure to extreme heat during the peak hours of the day.
Schools have been instructed to hold morning assemblies indoors, provide ample drinking water facilities, and encourage students to dress comfortably to ensure students’ well-being.

Additionally, all schools must maintain functional fans and ensure proper classroom ventilation, with alternative power arrangements in place for potential outages.
