The Supreme Court will resume hearing on the National Register of Citizen (NRC) case on January 6 next year.

A three-member bench headed by chief justice SA Bobde and justices BR Gavai and Surya Kant will hear the petitions filed by the All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU) and Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind.

The main petitioner Assam Public Works (APW) has filed an application for 100 per cent sample verification of the NRC list.

The top court has moved the NRC case from a special bench to a regular bench for further hearing.

Earlier, a special bench headed by the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi and justice Rohinton Fali Nariman was hearing the case.
