The principal of Salt Brook Academy Ajoy Sahu succumbed to Covid-19 infection at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Monday.

52-year-old Sahu was admitted to AMCH after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Sahu was a resident of Moran in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

“Sahu was treated at AMCH for Covid-19 but he had some comorbidities like diabetes and other complications like hypertension and chronic obstructive airway disease. Today morning he died at the hospital while undergoing treatment,” said AMCH superintendent Prasanta Dihingia.

Condolence messages started pouring in on social media platforms after the news of his death was confirmed by the AMCH authority.

The students of Salt Brook Academy remembered him as an excellent teacher who cares for the students.

On Sunday, Dibrugarh recorded 216 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 2,590 tests.
