Dibrugarh: Assam Minister Rameswar Teli on Sunday inaugurated Duliajan’s first Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Madhabpur.

The 830-metre-long bridge, constructed at a cost of Rs 72 crore, is expected to improve connectivity along the Madhabpur-Tipling Road, a key route that often witnessed traffic delays due to rail movement.

Speaking at the inauguration, Teli said the project had been a long-standing demand of local residents. He stated that the Assam government contributed Rs 47 crore towards the project, while Indian Railways provided Rs 25 crore.

The minister said the bridge would improve connectivity for residents and employees of OIL India Limited, whose field headquarters is located in Duliajan.

Officials said the ROB would help remove traffic bottlenecks on the route, which had affected daily commuters, goods vehicles and emergency services.
