A report published in the The Assam Tribune stated that the felicitation function, organised jointly by the Nagaon District Administration and Nagaon Sports Association (NSA), was scheduled to be held at the Nurul Amin Stadium, but due to incessant rain the meeting had to be shifted to the Khagen Mahanta Auditorium. “I am not here to be felicitated, but I am here for seeking your love and blessings,” said Hima while speaking on the occasion. “I will stay for two days at home and after that will leave for my training place. I have to work hard in order to bring more laurels to the country and my beloved Assam. Now I have more responsibility, bless me for my good health and leave it on me for other results,” said Hima.
The report further stated that Hima urged the State Government to set up playgrounds in all the rural areas of the State so that the talents could be spotted. She also emphasised on standard coaching so that the young talents could be groomed for international standard.
Union Minister Rajen Gohain, while speaking on the occasion said that Hima has made Assam proud and he hoped she will bring more laurels to the State in the coming days. State Minister Keshab Mahanta termed the ‘Dhing Express’ as a piece of gem. “Now her aim should be the Olympics and love of the people of Assam will inspire her,” Mahanta said.
Welcoming the gathering, Nagaon DC Biswajit Pegu revealed that as per the instruction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, a standard playground will be prepared at Hima’s birth place in Kandhulimari, near Dhing. At Dhing too, several organisations offered a warm welcome to Hima who reached home after a couple of months.
