In another related incident, the same MLA was also heard misbehaving with a woman police officer over the phone for detaining a single-engine boat which was declared illegal.

The entire incident of bullying police officers by an elected lawmaker has created public resentment in Lakhimpur district along with the state.

Bhuyan, however, claimed that it was a political conspiracy to malign his image and said that he would commit such acts a thousand times for the sake of the development of his constituency.
