Established in the 17th century, Rona Sobha has stood the test of time as a powerful symbol of Assamโ€™s rich cultural, spiritual and social heritage.

Bajali: Rona Sobha, one of Assamโ€™s oldest and most revered traditional religious assemblies, continues to remain firmly on course as it completes an extraordinary 345 years of existence in Bajali.

Established in the 17th century, Rona Sobha has stood the test of time as a powerful symbol of Assamโ€™s rich cultural, spiritual and social heritage. For more than three centuries, the historic institution has played a vital role in preserving age-old traditions, promoting religious harmony, and guiding society through moral and cultural values.

Even after 345 years, the management and devotees associated with Rona Sobha remain deeply committed to upholding its founding principles while steadily adapting to the needs of changing times. Organisers have ensured the systematic conduct of religious rituals, cultural programmes and community welfare activities, reflecting disciplined management and a strong sense of collective responsibility.

The smooth organisation of annual events and the growing participation of devotees from different areas underline the Sobhaโ€™s strong foundation and progressive outlook. Elders and devotees have expressed satisfaction over its transparent functioning, unity and devotion, which continue to safeguard the institutionโ€™s enduring legacy.

To mark the milestone, several traditional and cultural programmes were organised at the Sobha, including a Yoga session. Devotees and community members actively participated, reflecting unity, discipline and shared purpose. The programmes highlighted the Sobhaโ€™s commitment to preserving heritage while also promoting physical well-being and holistic development across age groups.

Speaking on the occasion, Rona Sobha Secretary Samudra Patgiri said, โ€œCompleting 345 years is not just a milestone but a responsibility. Rona Sobha is moving on the right track through collective effort, discipline and devotion. Our aim is to preserve tradition while guiding the younger generation with strong moral and cultural values.โ€

As Rona Sobha marks 345 glorious years, it stands as a shining example of how tradition and progress can move forward together, inspiring future generations to uphold and carry forward Assamโ€™s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
