Bajali: Roadside garbage accumulation has emerged as a growing concern in Pathsala, with residents blaming indiscriminate waste disposal and irregular garbage collection for the deteriorating sanitation conditions in the town.
Residents said heaps of waste have accumulated at several locations, attracting stray cows and dogs that are often seen feeding on plastic bags and other non-biodegradable waste. They warned that the situation poses risks to animal welfare, public health and the environment.
Locals also alleged that several commercial buildings housing shops and other businesses lack adequate waste disposal facilities. According to them, the absence of designated garbage storage areas have resulted in waste being dumped in nearby open spaces and along roadsides.
“Several parts of the town have become dirty due to garbage being dumped along the roadsides. Many people continue to dispose of waste irresponsibly, making the situation worse. We appeal to the concerned authorities to ensure daily garbage collection and take strict action against those who litter and keep the roads dirty,” resident Parshwa Patgiri said.
Residents further alleged that irregular garbage collection by the authorities has contributed to the accumulation of waste across different parts of the town.
They urged the authorities to strengthen the waste collection system, install adequate public dustbins and ensure that commercial establishments have proper waste disposal facilities to address the growing problem.
