A rhino was injured in a road accident in Kaziranga National Park on Thursday.

The incident occurred when a speedy vehicle hit the rhino on NH 37 at Haladhibari animal corridor under Kahora forest range in the park.

Locals said the rhino was hit by a speedy Tata DI vehicle (No AS12 BC 8964) when it was crossing the National Highway.

The rhino, which had collapsed on the road due to the accident, later moved towards Karbi Anglong side of the park.

Police have seized the vehicle from the spot.

Forest officials said that the park authorities are monitoring the movement of the injured rhino.

In 2020, more than 20 animals were killed in Kaziranga due to a vehicle hit.
