Police on Monday arrested a resort owner on the Nimati Road in upper’s Assam’s Jorhat for allegedly running a sex racket.

Resort owner Amarjyoti Bora, a resident of the Dergaon area, was arrested under sections 4//5/6 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

Police said that they had raided the resort on October 26 and arrested a couple who were allegedly involved in immoral activities there.

Police further said that when they had conducted the raid Bora had allegedly obstructed entry of the police team, due to which several such couples, had managed to escape.

Bora too had reportedly fled in the melee.

Police managed to pick up Bora night from his residence last night after tracking his mobile phone signals.

“For the past few months we had been receiving complaints regarding immoral activities taking place in the resort and we had acted on this information,” the police said.
