Assam reported 8 more deaths due to Covid19 infection and 499 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet on the state’s Covid19 status on Saturday said the new positive cases were detected out of 71,638 tests.

Assam’s overall Covid19 positivity percentage stood at 0.70% on Saturday, health minister Mahanta said.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district recorded 133.

Several patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, recovered from the disease on Saturday.

The state’s recovery rate stood at 98.04%, minister Mahanta said.

“Summary of 11/9/2021 – Today’s Total 499; Overall Positivity Percentage (499 cases out of 71,638 test done = 0.70%); Kamrup(M) 133;  Death 8; Recovery Rate 98.04%,” health minister Mahanta tweeted.

On Friday, Assam reported a total of 396 new Covid19 positive cases.

The deadly disease claimed the lives of 5 people on Friday and the state’s positivity stood at 0.52%.

On Friday, the Kamrup Metro district reported 70 cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 73.05 crore vaccine doses of Covid19 vaccine have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

A total of 33,376 new Covid19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours.

India’s active cases account for 1.18% of the total cases and the country’s active caseload stands at 3,91,516.

India’s recovery rate currently stands at 97.49%.

India recorded 32,198 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
